Tanker owners who pilfered large quantities of petroleum products are at large though the police issued warrants against them. Police have issued arrest warrant against them on the charge of stealing petroleum product from the tankers.
As many as 16 tanker owners are absconding and the police suspect they are hiding in India.
However, Rupandehi Police Chief, Superintendent of Police (SP) Bikram Singh Thapa, has said that police will arrest them from their hideouts.
Meanwhile, the police have kept 22 tanker drivers and helpers and two officials of the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) in custody and have started investigations in this connection.
The arrested NOC officials are Devendra Basnet and Rabindra Kumar Raut who were assigned to check the quantity of fuel at the NOC office. RSS
