Bollywood Actress Priyanka fine with biopic on her life

Unknown     8:57 AM  No comments
MAY 08, MUMBAI.

Actress Priyanka Chopra says she does not mind if there is a biopic on her life, but wants it to made at the right time. Aseem Merchant, rumoured to be Priyanka’s friend during her modelling days, is reportedly planning to make a movie on her. Aseem, who was last seen in a small role in Salman Khan starrer Wanted, is turning producer with this biopic on Priyanka.

“It is mind-blowing to hear that I have become so big that people are making a film on my life. Jokes apart, I don’t think I have become so big that people would make a film on me,” Priyanka, 31, said. “I really haven’t heard about if someone is doing it. There are a lot of things that I still need to achieve. Maybe when I turn 40, people can decide to make a film because I am sure I will achieve whatever I want to by that age,” she added.

There is buzz that the film will focus on Priyanka’s days as a model and also talk about her legal battle with her ex-manager Prakash Jaju. Prakash had served over two months in jail on allegations of cheating the actress. Apparently, he targeted Priyanka over non-payment of dues and insisted that the actress owed him money.

On this, Priyanka says, “It would be extremely flattering for me if someone would make a biopic on my life, but this particular situation makes me very angry as I know what my family and I went through during that phase of our lives and what upsets me is that people want to glorify something which was a painful part in my life. I think it’s extremely disturbing.”

Priyanka is currently doing a biopic on ace Indian boxer Mary Kom. “I am doing a biopic on Mary Kom’s life and she has sat with me on every scene that I have shot and has told me her emotions that she felt during a particular situation,” the actress said.

"Mean Girls"is still 'fetch'

Unknown     7:11 AM  No comments
APR - 30, CNN

How many of you have felt victimized by a Regina George? If you raised your hand, you can attest that even a decade later "Mean Girls" still holds up.

Whether it's because Tina Fey's script so authentically captures the high school experience or because of the multiple quote-worthy lines (admit it, you are glad "fetch" happened), the film about a group of teen girls who rule the school and the girl they sort of take under their wing is as popular now as it ever was.

"For the high-school genre, Fey's hilarious script was unusually astute and provocative," the Guardian said of the film in 2013. "Replicating teen doublespeak with brilliant authenticity, the dialogue was full of zingers, accounting for its continued life online."
April 30 marks the 10-year anniversary of the now cult classic. Not only can the 2004 movie be seen in heavy rotation on cable stations, but thanks to Netflix anyone can enjoy the adventures of "the Plastics." Social media has also fully embraced it with Tumblrs and trending hashtags devoted to the characters and their snappy dialogue.

Before gay rights were even being fully embraced, the movie offered up the loveable character of Damian, who was "too gay to function" and partial to singing Christina Aguilera's songs in the school talent show. And for those who have witnessed the train wreck that has become the life and career of "Mean Girls" star Lindsay Lohan, it also serves as a bittersweet time capsule of the days when she was billed as one of the most promising young actresses of her generation.

Based on the 2002 nonfiction book "Queen Bees and Wannabes" by Rosalind Wiseman, actress and screenwriter Fey was able to find the funny in what is often the victimization of young women in school.

In the film, Cady Heron is a 16-year-old daughter of zoologist parents who moves from Africa to the United States and is enrolled in public school after having been home schooled. She quickly catches the attention of the Plastics, a clique of girls who indoctrinate her into their ways, including rules about what days to wear pink and the fact that "ex-boyfriends are off-limits to friends. That's just, like, the rules of feminism."

What follows is a war of manipulation, lies and revenge. Fey told The New York Times that it was all quite familiar.

"I revisited high school behaviors of my own — futile, poisonous, bitter behaviors that served no purpose," Fey said. "That thing of someone saying 'You're really pretty' and then, when the other person thanks them, saying, 'Oh, so you agree? You think you're pretty?' That happened in my school. That was a bear trap."

In fact, "Mean Girls" has become a sort of cultural shorthand for Machiavellian-type machinations -- as well as a favored pop culture reference. During the 2013 government shutdown, the "Mean Girls of Capitol Hill" Tumblr blog grew in popularity, and when Jennifer Lawrence won a 2013 People's Choice Award, she said "I wish this was like 'Mean Girls' and I could just break this (award) up and throw it at all of you because you're all responsible."

The movie grossed just over $129 million worldwide and helped cement the career of Lohan and launch others, including Amanda Seyfried, who told the Los Angeles Times it was her "best work."

"I look back and I'm like, 'Really, I thought I was doing a terrible job," Seyfried said. "But it was written so well and so wonderfully directed. (Director) Mark Waters made me look good; he made me funny. And Tina Fey wrote the coolest script of all time. I'm so grateful for every experience."

The company of books

Unknown     8:22 AM  No comments
APR 28 - KATHMANDU.

Snahya Basnyat graduated in International Business Management from Assumption University in Thailand, after which she has been volunteering for VSO (Volunteer Services Overseas) and ICS (International Citizen Services). Her work is focused on women empowerment, sexual reproductive health and encouraging woman enterprises. When she is not working, Basnyat travels to different parts of the world, exploring new places, and attempting to discover the spirit of the spaces she visits. While she travels, she reads books and meditates. Nhooja Tuladhar talked to her about her reading habits.

What are you reading at present?

Right now, I'm reading Ayurveda and the Mind (The Healing of Consciousness) by David Frawley. The book is an insight into consciousness and basically a virtual guideline on Ayurveda and yoga. It's more like a directive on creating a wholeness of the body, mind and spirit. The book relates everything to one another. The author has made such abstract topics easier to understand. The text links Ayurveda to yoga and yoga to psychology, giving one a better understanding of the topics dealt with. The book works very well as a meditative journey.

How did you first come to love books?

For me, it wasn't love at first book. I think I was around six years of age and I had no interest in reading at all. My two elder sisters were voracious readers and eventually my parents got so worried that they started getting me books to encourage me. They got me Enid Blyton's Famous Five books, Jacqueline Wilson's My Sister Jodie and Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Although I resisted initially, I did grow to love them in time. And I've been in the company of books every since.

Who would you say are your favourite writers, and why?

When I was younger, books by Wilson and Judy Blume (Tiger Eyes) were my favourites. Especially Wilson, whose works would allow my imagination run wild. I could relate to the stories she wrote. Her books, I think have helped me widen my perspective on life.

These days, an assorted choice of writers catches my fancy. Khaled Hosseini (The Kite Runner), Sylvia Plath (The Bell Jar), Arundati Roy (The God of Small Things), Haruki Murakami (The Wind-up Bird Chronicles), Virgina Woolf (Orlando).

I like Murakami owing to the fact that he seems very neurotic. It's special because the stuff he writes about is sometimes very disturbing, but quite intriguing nonetheless. Roy steals my heart with the way she makes daily life events seem so interesting. Like the way she describes Indian food. It actually stimulates the taste in my mouth. Woolf because I entirely admire her style of writing. It's very depressing at times but she was very much in touch with her feelings and you can really see it in her works. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Half of a Yellow Sun) is another writer I totally adore. Not just her writing, she inspires me for being such a strong woman. She is my idol.

What is good writing for you? What would you say makes a good writer?

I would say writing from the heart and really being able to express oneself is what makes a good writer. I also like a lot of description. The kind that lets you put yourself into the author's mind.

How do you select books to read?

I like to read books that are at least a hundred years old. That way I can get others opinions of the book in the form of recommendations and reviews. It helps me decide whether I would like reading it or not. Normally, if I am going to buy a book, I do some research on it. But if I just go into a book store, I browse through and see what interests me.

One book that inspired you a lot and why?

I'd say the Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky because, there's a quote at the end by the narrator that reads: "I would never teach my children a lesson saying that 'you shouldn't waste food', because people in Africa are starving, because no matter what other people are going through, your problems are always more significant to you.” That has always stayed with me

Do you think electronic alternatives will ever replace books?

I think there's a good chance they might, but I'm personally very old-fashioned when it comes to books. I love the feel of books and the smell; I think electronic devices can never replace that.

Your advice to young readers?

Keep on reading. Read a lot. Never stop reading. Because it will keep your mind active always and you will learn new things. And it's a quick, easy escape from reality.

10 Reasons Why You Will Never Become Rich

Unknown     8:11 AM  No comments
There’s an interesting maxim about how long wealth actually stays with a person and their descendants. The saying is three generations, tops: one to make it, one to spend it, and the third to blow it. Of course, there are exceptions to this rule, but have you ever sat down and seriously thought about wealth and what it means to you? Or do you figure, “What the heck, I’ve always been broke, my forefathers were broke; it’s generational” – it’s just a rite of passage of sorts. If you feel that wealth is out of your reach, you aren’t alone. According to some experts, there are millions of ‘clueless potential millionaires’ who could be at the top of the wealth ladder if they only reined in a few bad habits. However, you may be a skeptic, and rightly so. Being wealthy means different things to different people. But according to the experts, there are financial mistakes many people make that keep them away from their possible wealth.

What is Wealth Anyway?
Most people do not equate wealth with a mansion or a big yacht. In fact, a scanty 7% of people surveyed associate wealth with material possessions like cars, houses and boats. Rather, to many, being rich means having just enough to not worry about the next payday – that’s according to 33% of those questioned. An additional 26% define being wealthy, or rich, as having more than enough money to quit their jobs. Still, few people place an actual dollar amount on what it means to be wealthy. Only 17% felt that being rich means having at least $1 million or more, and 11% stated a six-figure yearly income would make them feel rich. Yet most people who are rich don’t even consider themselves rich. Maybe it’s because being ‘rich’ or ‘wealthy’ has very little to do with material possessions, and more to do with how people feel about themselves. Nonetheless, according to financial experts you will never be rich if you are bogged down by anything on the following list:

Movie Review: Best and the Worst thing about Ragini MMS 2 of Sunny Leone

Unknown     2:34 AM  No comments
Ekta Kapoor -- the television queen, a self-confessed fan of horror and maker of adult comedies -- knew what she was getting into when she conceptualised Ragini MMS 2, a horrorex, the first-of-its kind for Indian cinema. She never cares about critics, she has always maintained. But does she care about her audiences? If yes, who are the target audience for Ragini MMS 2?

After trying her luck with Jism and Jackpot, Sunny Leone gives Bollywood another shot with Ragini MMS 2. Will she impress, or disappoint?

The film starts off from where its prequel Ragini MMS ended which revolved around a young couple Ragini and Uday who went to an isolated house for a dirty weekend ...

Sunny Leone has teamed up with Honey Singh for Chaar Botal Vodka, a song in Ragini MMS 2.

Ragini MMS 2 is directed by Bhushan Patel and also stars Sandhya Mridul and Parvin Dabbas.

Sunny Leone has shot for a lot of steamy scenes.

Reportedly, Ekta Kapoor got so scared of the ghosts in Ragini MMS 2, that she has decided to run Hanuman Chalisa in the opening credits of the film.

I got an answer to these questions, when I ventured out to watch Sunny Leone's Ragini MMS 2, helmed by Bhushan Patel. The enthusiastic crowd cheered when the film began. A lowdown on our protagonist's opening scene: Sunny Leone is sitting naked in a bathtub, and the song Baby doll begins with camera strategically zooming in on her assets. The cheers metamorphosed into lewd comments from a section of audience who had obviously recieved their money's worth from the film. What about the rest of the audience? Well, after a while, you cannot help but get affected by the obscenity not only on screen but also from the people who are sitting next to you.

Full Movie of Ragini MMS 2:

But, it's a horrorex afterall. Didn't Ekta warn you?

In Ekta's world, the ghost goes naked, gets cosy in the shower, seduces you to a lake only to kill you. What's more? She can also kill you while in the act. Maybe there's a lesson here: think twice before a one-night stand.

Besides the overdose of sex, smooches and skimpy outfits, the film also has Kya Kool Hain Hum (another Ekta Kapoor movie) brand of humour that you were not promised before watching the movie. The Grand Masti lovers can rejoice again! The haters can stay home and do better things.

As far as horror is concerned, it dominates the second half, especially the climax. The sex and the adult comedy, however, diminishes the impact of spooky moments. The moment you begin to feel scared, there's something or the other to break the momentum.

Sunny Leone is the best and the worst thing about Ragini MMS 2. Sadly, the sexually charged scenes shift the limelight from her acting prowess to her body. However, in the scenes where the actor takes charge from the seductress in her, she's a powerpacked performer. The lady has a great screen presence and a potential that could be explored better than her skin.

Sandhya Mridul plays a behenji-turned-mod, a character she's never attempted before and excels at it. Her much-publicised kiss with Sunny Leone, though shot in an aesthetic way, was unwarranted. She enjoys her character though, which translates into a confident performance.

Divya Dutta, who plays Ragini's psychiatrist, is an actor of great mettle and excels again, but she should try different roles, before she becomes repetitive.

Jacqueline: Movies Celebrities It's my way or no way for Salman Khan!

Unknown     9:59 AM  No comments
We all know that Salman Khan has changed his looks for his upcoming film 'Kick'. He has been spotted sporting a french moustache in his recent public outings and that is apparently his look in the Sajid Nadiadwala's film.

Salman is not only particular about his looks but also about co-star Jacqueline Fernandez's looks in the film. Recently, the actor made Jacqueline shoot a song sequence all over again because he was not happy with her hairdo.

According to a leading tabloid, Jacqueline had already shot a few scenes when Salman arrived on the sets and appeared displeased with her hairdo. He asked it to be redone, following which Jacqueline's hair and make-up artist started all over again. After this, the song was re-shot.

This is not the first time Salman has done this. Remember the incident when he forced Katrina to change her top during the shooting of 'Mashallah' song from 'Ek Tha Tiger'.

Unknown     2:49 AM  1 comment

You might feel it hard to believe but we come to know about this fact yesterday. Salman Khan who is also known as lover-boy of Bollywood has finally found is soul mate. The superstar already had an affair with former miss world and top leading lady of Bollywood Aishwarya Rai who is now the daughter in law of Bollywood legend Mr. Amitab Bachhan and wife of Abhishek Bachhan, struggling actor of Bollywood. Later the lover-boy sets his fate with Katrina Kaif, another leading lady of Bollywood but the bond between Salman and Katrina was not found to be strong enough to tie their relationship and broken up. Nowadays Katrina is having affair with Ranbeer Kapoor, Son of Rishi Kapoor and rising superstar of Bollywood. Few months back topless Ranbeer and Katrina in bikini were found enjoying in the beach side of Spain.

It is being heard that Salman Khan was so hurt because of Ranbeer-Katrina relationship and he was searching for a life partner.  Finally the search ends and the superstar found his dream girl from the lap of Himalayas. Nepal, the most beautiful and peaceful country in the world is going to be the “Sasural” of Salman Khan. The year 2014 is being lucky for the Tiger of Bollywood. Recently he ends his war with another Legend of Bollywood Mr. Shah Rukh Khan in the set of Star Guild Award hosted by him and he gets his lover now. Shah Rukh and Salman was said to be “Jigri Dost” in Indian film industry before 2009. But in the year 2009, on the occasion of Katrina’s Birthday they fought with each other and the Khan war begins. Now finally the war has come to an end everyone in Bollywood wants to see Salman and Shah Rukh sharing the same screen together.

All of the fans are so curious to know about Salman’s new girlfriend but Salman has not spoken anything about his latest relationship. Probably he might want to keep it secret but we are the lucky one to know about all these in brief. Samita Shrestha is the name of Salman’s new girlfriend. The love story of Salman and Samita is not so old. They first meet in Jaipur where Salman was promoting his new movie “Jai Ho” and Samita was there to see Salman. The heroine of the movie Daisy Shah was not feeling well and only Salman and his brother and director of the film Soheil Khan was talking about the movie and requesting their fans to watch it. But the audience demands Salman to dance on the song “Tere naina…naina….” Salman accepts the audience request and ask for music but at the same time Soheil humorously said that, “Our heroine is not feeling well enough to dance we want one from you guys.” And luckily point his finger to Samita and asked her to come stage and join Salman. Samita feel so unconscious and could not react anything for some times and Salman gently ask her if she is nervous. Samita said, “I cannot believe that I am with you in the same stage. I need someone to pinch me.” Salman slowly pinch her and ask, “Is is ok?” Samita in a smiling face said, “Oh! It’s a dream come true.” Soheil in the other side said, “Was it your dream to get pinched from Salman?” and everyone laughs. Salman then asked Samita about herself,
Salman: What is your name and where are you from?
Samita: (Feeling nervous) my name is Samita Shrestha and I am from Nepal, and I cannot tell you how I am feeling this time. I just want to tell you that I am the huge-huge fan of yours.
Salman: (Smiling gently) It is my pleasure that I have so beautiful fan like you, I truly say that you are the most beautiful girl in the earth.
Samita: (Feeling unconscious) Oh…..!!! (Smiling) Thank you Salman, Thank you so much.
Salman: Are you ready to dance?
Samita: I am always ready for you.
(Both Smiles and start dancing)
When the dance is over Salman asks Samita to go backstage and wait for him. He also goes backstage after the press meet and they have a lot of discussion. At the end Salman calls Smita to Mumbai and they started daily dating there. After few days Salman fix a meeting with his father Salim Khan and Samita and ask him how is she? Salim Uncle appreciates Salman’s choice and now the parents of Samita are going to meet Salman and his family and talk about their relationship. We wish all the best to both Salman and Samita and pray that they may stay happily together forever.
