Dr. Pokharel is appointed as Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission

May 08, Kathmandu.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers today decided to appoint Dr. Govinda Pokharel, as the Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission (NPC)

Dr. Minendra Rijal, Spokesperson of the government and Minister for Information and Communications, said the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, had decided to appoint Dr. Pokharel to the post.

Minister Dr. Rijal said the meeting also approved the proposal regarding constitution and operation of 72 municipalities based on the earlier homework. Similarly, a committee chaired by Prof. Keshavananda Giri for the recommendation of determining more municipal areas in the future.

Likewise, the meeting decided to accept three billion rupees for the community irrigation projects to be operated by the Asian Development Bank.

Similarly, the government has decided to adopt possible measures in view of controlling jaundice, hepatitis B seen in Biratnagar since the last few days, and other health related problems through the Chief District Officer (CDO), Morang, in coordination with the Chief Secretary, Lilamani Poudyal, Minister Dr. Rijal said.
