FEB. 09, RAUTAHAT
Manjha Devi Yadav of Khesrahiya-5 in Rautahat district gave birth to ten daughters with an expectation of having a son. The 39-year-old Yadav finally realised that girls and boys are equal and it is just a misconception to prefer a male child and now adopted family planning service.
Yadav who was at a family planning camp organised by the District Public Health Office, Rautahat, shared that every time of her pregnancy, she dreamt of giving birth to a male child, but contrary to her expectation, she is blessed with a girl child. “Now I realised that girls and boys are equally important in our life and am here as per the suggestions of my family,” she said.
The Rautahat DPHO receives only mothers in the family planning camps it is organising every year in the district. So far, 2500 people took the family planning services provided by the Office. But, of them, there was a single man receiving the service, Family Planning Chief at the office, Ramadhar Singh, said.
The minilap (for women) and vasectomy (for men) services are available in the camp being organised at the District Hospital since December 6, 2013. The government offers Rs. 150 to the persons taking family planning services in the camp. RSS
